Cesare Prandelli will be offered a four-year contract to lead the Italy squad, but it’s reported he’ll have help from Arrigo Sacchi and Paolo Maldini.

Fiorentina have officially given the Federation permission to speak with their Coach, who is set to replace Marcello Lippi after the World Cup.

According to the Corriere dello Sport today, this is going to be a long-term project with an initial four-year contract.

The deal would take Prandelli through the European Championships and the next World Cup in Brazil.

It would represent a new era for the Nazionale, as many of the ageing stars in the current squad are facing their final international tournament.

However, the newspaper suggests that the FIGC is planning a new infrastructure to aid Prandelli in scouting talent.

Former Italy and Milan Coach Sacchi, who took the Azzurri to second place in the 1994 World Cup, would return as supervisor.

Ex-Rossoneri defender Maldini is another potential new member of staff to join Gigi Riva as team manager.

Maldini is already working with the Federation as the ambassador for Italy’s Euro 2016 bid.
