Serie A Week 37 - 24/5/09 (14.00 UK)
Milan - Roma
Stadio San Siro
This could well be remembered as the game before Carlo Ancelotti and Luciano Spalletti traded places. While all the smart money is on Ancelotti moving to Chelsea this summer, dont rule out a switch to Roma.
Carletto recently made public his desire to train the Giallorossi, which is something he has never said of the Blues. Factor in his history with Roma and we have a surprising if not unforeseen change of Coach in the offing.
Milan are almost certainly interested in Spalletti, but like Juventus, they are worried about how much it would cost them. Would a straight swap for Ancelotti not be a reasonable solution, allowing both teams to get a trainer capable of taking them to the next level?
Back on the pitch, Milan come into this game in a richer vein of form than Roma, despite their 2-1 defeat away to Udinese on Saturday. The Rossoneri have won seven of their last 10 games, scoring 23 goals in the process and conceding just five, realising six clean sheets.
In Kaka, Alexandre Pato and Pippo Inzaghi, Milan have an attacking trident that has produced 43 goals this season. Having said that, the Rossoneri have gone two games without a victory and host a Roma side that is unbeaten in its last three games.
The Giallorossi are still without Doni and Juan, though, making them seriously vulnerable at the back. Roma have conceded an astonishing 57 goals this season, giving them the fourth worst defence in Serie A.
Considering Milan have the Leagues best attack and along with Fiorentina have more victories at home than any other team this season, the prognosis for Roma looks bad.
Keep an eye on: Francesco Totti (Roma) The 32-year-old talisman has endured a humbling season. He has suffered several niggling injuries and watched his team show a distinct lack of competitiveness. That said, Totti has still done the business when it has mattered, scoring 11 goals in 20 starts for Roma this season.
